Christian Louboutin proved that fashion is fun again with his show on Friday, Sept. 27 during Paris Fashion Week, and I am here for it. It was creative and totally unforgettable.
Louboutin teamed up with film director David LaChapelle and choreographer Blanca Li to throw an epic pool party (literally) showcasing the designer’s Spring and Summer 2025 collection.
“Paris is Louboutining” involved a massive pool in the center of the Paris Art Deco Piscine Molitor, water slides that looked like the classic red-soled Louboutins, a team of Olympic swimmers, a synchronized water aerobics routine, and a live performance from musician LP.
The three collaborators said the vision for “Paris is Louboutining” came from their common love for dance.
“Blanca made it her world. David, some of his major artworks. And me, I also started by designing shoes for dancers,” Louboutin said on the Louboutin official website.
I think that the incorporation of dance made the performance even more showstopping. As the French Olympic swim team performed, you could see the new “Miss Z” heel pop up above the water with each kick. The pump is rumored to be named after actress Zendaya. If you ask me, it is an unforgettable way to showcase a new addition to such an already iconic shoe brand.
Part of the inspiration behind this immersive show was 1950s Hollywood. This is where LaChappelle’s expertise comes into play.
This show is a perfect example of different art forms joining forces to create something spectacular and, in this case, never done before. The collaboration of dance, music, fashion and athletics created the electrifying energy and unforgettable uniqueness of this show. The makeup, lighting, wigs, bathing suits and set all contributed to the glamorous Hollywood vibes.
As if the show wasn’t iconic enough, Louboutin slid down his very own life-sized “Miss Z” pump right into the water to close the show. This colorful, playful, enthralling and iconic show has not left my mind or my TikTok For You page all week. I think it will leave a big impact on the fashion industry in the years to come.
I can’t wait to see what is next for Louboutin and for all who take inspiration from the show.
