KKW Beauty vs. Kylie Cosmetics

Updated: Nov 7, 2019

Sisters, business moguls, competitors? Ever since the Kardashians first hit the scene in the early 2000s, they have had undeniable influence, and now in 2019, the Kardashian clan is a household name. They are huge influences in fashion, pop culture, and beauty, ever since Kylie Cosmetics launched in 2015 and KKW Beauty in 2017, they have taken over the beauty industry. But how do both companies survive and thrive, and is the market big enough for both brands to be successful?

The main difference between KKW Beauty and Kylie Cosmetics is their target markets, Kylie’s brand seems to be targeted more towards young women, or women close to her age. The same can be said with Kim’s brand, her brand seems to be targeted more towards more mature women, or women her age. Although at the same time, both have the power to draw people from all age ranges with their vast collections of products.

Kylie’s brand is also significantly more girly and creative. Kylie’s product packaging is mostly pink, with a cursive logo, a very feminine makeup line. She also experiments with funky lip colors and bright eye shadow palettes. She focuses on her bestselling liquid lip kits, a product unavailable in the KKW Beauty line.

Kim’s brand seems to be the opposite of Kylie’s, with totally nude packaging and a muted down logo. Her brand mostly focuses on the beauty basics, and those great makeup products you can use all day every day. She focuses on her infamous cream contour sticks, similar to Kylie’s liquid lipsticks this is an item unavailable with Kylie Cosmetics.

The sisters strategically avoid stepping on each other’s toes, so that both are successful yet still unique.

The beauty industry nowadays is a massive billion-dollar market, with no signs of slowing down. Kim and Kylie’s brands are highly benefiting from that, and both their brands are having huge success. Most recently KKW Beauty and Kylie Cosmetics have launched their collections in Ulta Beauty, with even more success.

They are both great cosmetic ranges with tons of options, so go grab as many contour sticks and liquid lipsticks as your beauty guru heart desires!
