Funniest Shows to Watch on Hulu

Due to the current state of the world, many people have been cooped up inside and in need of a pick-me-up. One way I have found to make myself feel better right now is binge-watching funny TV shows.

Streaming platform Hulu has some of the best selections of TV shows from Comedy Central, FX or even Hulu’s own original shows. My favorites are the shows where the humor is kind of dark and vulgar. If you can watch it comfortably with your parents, it’s not worth watching.

Broad City

This is hands down my favorite TV show of all time. The show was created by comedians Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson. The female leads in the show make me appreciate it even more. They make the show significantly funnier than it would be if they were men.

The show is about Abbi and Ilana’s friendship and journey throughout New York City. The show feels so much like what their real-life relationship would be like. Abbi is an aspiring artist and they are both discovering themselves. They go through a series of crazy shenanigans like living in NYC apartments, weird subway and restaurant experiences, and downloading Tinder.

"Broad City" is the kind of show you can throw on at any episode from any season and start it right there. The episodes are short and sweet and a majority of them have left me crying laughing. Every person I have introduced this show to has absolutely loved it.

PEN15

This show is completely absurd and completely amazing at the same time. Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle star in the Hulu Original show that aired in February of 2019. I can safely say since then, I have seen the first season probably 10 times all the way through. This is one of the funniest and most awkward original shows on any streaming platform. It’s hard to describe the show without it sounding super weird and unappealing.

The show is about Maya and Anna’s journey through middle school together and all the awkward first-time experiences they have: having a crush, their first kiss, shaving their legs, or a first school dance.

Maya and Anna play themselves in the show – but when they were 13. Anna has fake braces on her perfectly straight teeth and Maya rocks the iconic '90s style bowl cut. It doesn’t seem too weird from that description, someone who’s 30 acting as someone who’s younger than 30, but all other actors in the show are actually around 13 years old. Anna and Maya are the only actors in the entire show who aren’t actually in middle school. It feels like you’re watching them go through middle school in the ’90s, but they’re 30 years old.

If you’re trying to make yourself feel better right now, get a Hulu subscription and indulge in these shows.
