Everything we need to know about the 'Pretty Little Liars' reboot

Updated: Oct 19, 2020

What’s that old saying again, “another year another reboot”? Well, it looks just like we the people are getting another reboot! But, this time it’s one nobody really asked for, unfortunately. While I am not ready, nor do I want this "Pretty Little Liars" reboot, this does not mean I will not be watching this new season on our screens.

Also, I should mention I was and still am a hard "Pretty Little Liars" stan! And most likely will continue to be until I can find a new show to replace the amazing-ness of everything this show had to offer!

Now, though no one asked for my opinion, I’m going to really quickly tell you what I think they should have rebooted instead of the whole "Pretty Little Liars" franchise -- the TWO spin-off series connected to the liar universe! First off, there is "Rosewood," which got canceled February 2014. To the defense of that show, can we all agree that it is underrated? Lastly, "Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists," which was canceled in May 2019. And again, to the defense of the show, the characters were not as relatable as the OG‘s and this was not sitting well with audiences or myself!

Enough said over what reboots should have made it to the screen this year that are "Pretty Little Liars" related! On to what we know about this upcoming show!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, a source revealed that "Riverdale" showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is spearheading a new take on the former Freeform mega-hit. The new PLL is said to feature a new story and new characters, with Aguirre-Sacasa set to pen the script.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is the creator of, not only "Riverdale," but of Netflix's "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina"! Which the final season is coming to Netflix by the end of 2020! Aguirre-Sacasa created and brought to life "Katy Keene" and the 2013 remake of "Carrie."

As of right now, there is no word or information of if original cast members such as Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Sasha Pieterse or Troian Bellisario will come back to reprise their past rules. Or, if Marlene King is involved in this new reproduction.

In addition to the original cast coming back, we also don’t know which network is picking up the show. Many media outlets have thrown out possibilities such as HBO Max and Freeform, but no one can confirm nor deny if these networks are planning on picking up this reboot. Furthermore, no one knows or can predict when this reboot is supposed to be hitting the small screens.

To be honest, this "Pretty Little Liars" reboot is taking a page out of their own book by sounding more and more like a mystery each time new details come out about it!

All in all, this reboot is still in its planning stage, therefore we do not yet know a whole lot compared to other shows coming up this year! However, that does not mean we can’t keep guessing on who or what is appearing in the season!

Please let me know in the comments down below what you want to see in this new reboot!
