Recently in my free time, I have found myself creating playlists to organize my music for different moods, events, or even just to put a spotlight on a few of my favorites. Especially after Taylor Swift’s album debut this past August, I knew I had to create the best “Lover” playlist possible to hit all of the ~feels~!
I put together fifteen of my most favorite love songs from all sorts of genres and artists. Hopefully, you will be able to find a few that truly make your heart happy.
"All About Us" - He Is We (feat. Owl City)
The first song on my playlist is a soft song that I have always listened to! It’s the sweetest story about a couple dancing. It makes my heart skip a beat. The chorus picks up into a faster tempo that is fun to sing along to, as well! My favorite lyric is “Lovers dance when they’re feeling in love / Spotlight shining, it's all about us.”
"All of Me" - John Legend
The second song is a classic all the way back from 2013. I think this was a song that will forever be remembered. Also, it’s about Chrissy Teigen so how could we not love it?
"Cornelia Street"– Taylor Swift
This new one from Taylor Swift’s Lover album is another story that makes my heart happy. She is so great at capturing the feelings of a relationship and the thought of losing the one you love.
"Greatest Love Story" – LANCO
I mean this song was a no brainer addition to my playlist. It is the sweetest story about a troublemaking boy and an all-American girl that fell in love when they were younger. After many years and finally reconnecting, they realized their feelings had never left. LANCO is a great band and their album Hallelujah Nights has many more songs that I find myself listening to as well!
"I Don’t Dance" – Lee Brice
Lee Brice is one of my favorite country artists because if his amazing way of telling stories in his songs. He captures so many emotions in his songs. One of my favorite lyrics in this song is “I don’t dance, but here I am / Spinnin’ you ‘round and ‘ round in circles / It ain’t my style, but I don’t care / I’d do anything with you anywhere.”
"King of My Heart" – Taylor Swift
This song off of her reputation album is another favorite of mine because of the fun beat and her beautiful chorus. I love her lyric “And all at once, you are the one, I have been waiting for / King of my heart, body, and soul”. She captures the moments of realizing your love for another person so perfectly. I am always mesmerized by her beautifully crafted lyrics.
"Lover" – Taylor Swift
Sorry, not sorry…I’m a huge Swiftie also. I mean when I started this playlist I knew that I had to include a song or three of hers! This was definitely the easiest addition to the playlist. I think that the song truly speaks for itself. “My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue / All’s well that ends well to end up with you.” I mean, a lyrical genius.
"Lucky" – Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat
I have always been a huge fan of Colbie Caillat and her voice. She was my morning alarm for a while! That is until I liked it so much I didn’t wake up to it anymore. However, this song is a sweet love song that I always keep in my love playlist. The chorus is so sweet and makes my heart happy also!
"One" – Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran is the king of love songs. Every girl swoons listening to his lyrics and soothing voice. “One” is a song that is certainly underappreciated. It is the sweetest song expressing that someone is your “only one”. I love the lyric “Take my hand and my / Heart and soul, I will / Only have these eyes for you.”
"Perfect" – Ed Sheeran
Another Ed Sheeran song that makes every girl’s heart skip a beat. This song was nominated 10 times in 2018. Plus, the music video is just the sweetest story. If you need an updated version of this song on your playlist he also made a duet with Beyonce. Ed Sheeran also created another duet with Italian singer Andrea Bocelli, titled “Perfect Symphony”. The only thing I need to say about that duet is that he sings in Italian. Enough said, right?
"Rewrite the Stars" – Zac Efron & Zendaya
This song may seem like an interesting pick for my “lover” playlist because it’s from The Greatest Showman. This song is an amazing performance by Zac Efron and Zendaya. They sing about changing their destiny to be with each other. The movie scene is so magical, beautiful, and enchanting. This is a must-add to your playlist!
"Say You Won’t Let Go" – James Arthur
I love this song so much. James Arthur tells a great story about loving someone and hoping that they never leave because you want to be with them for your whole life. I think this also a must-have addition to your playlist!
"Slow Dance" – AJ Mitchell (feat. Ava Max)
Released last month, this song has already become a fun song to sing along to and to dance around to when you’re feeling all of the feels. I love the duet between AJ Mitchell and Ava Max.
"Slow Dance in a Parking Lot" – Jordan Davis
This song was a country favorite that I knew needed to be added to my “lover” playlist. Jordan Davis is a great artist: if you don’t already have him in your collection, you most definitely should add him! My favorite lyric in this song is “Makin’ the most of whatever we got, even it's it’s just / A slow dance with you.”
"Speechless" – Dan & Shay
Duh. I think this song stands on its own and as one of the best love songs of this year and for many more years to come. If you don’t have this in your collection, I’m truly surprised. Dan & Shay are amazing artists that capture those feelings so perfectly.
